Earlier this year I've spent few days helping my pal, master Chris Garbutt , doing some art for the second pilot/trailer of his project "Pinky Malinky" . I was exploring backgrounds and various characters design styles. Chris explains it a bit here . The new trailer is really cool and I hope it'll become a proper show sometime soon. More CN development designs I found in my files. Here's a selection for "Little Rikke" by the great Rikke Asjboern , that we develloped back in 2008. I've already shown the backgrounds and the title sequence we've made back then, but not these drawings. We explored different directions for the characters but the final versions reflected Rikke's own designs, which pretty much always proves more natural and better in a creator-driven show. It was then a matter of working towards that. proportions tests Clean up test and line up.

Going back to life drawing...rusty...Life drawing is always hard and challenging, no matter what. You always feel like on the edge and back to square one again and again. At least, I do...

Cleaning my files, I found some early development sketches from back in 2007-2008, when I was helping developing this amazing show with Mr. Bocquelet and the development studio team. I also did some storyboard on the pilot, but couldn't find any of it. I thought it'd be interesting for the fans out there. Some early Gumball doodles: When Gumball almost became a black cat. Some Miss Simian. When Richard was thought of as a blue dog: Hereafter are character ideas and concepts from different styles that could live in Gumball's world. Ben then chose his favourites. Some made it into the show some where left over. I'm giving them some public time here, so they don't remain forgot. This guy actually made it in the show, as an office worker.
